specialty woods

Some woods are considered "specialty woods" depending on figure and availability. Figure is the degree of uniqueness in the curl, grain, bird's eye, etc. Availability is the degree of rarity due to location or circumstance. Both one piece and laminate paddles can be made from specialty woods. Due to variations in degree, each paddle made from one or more of these woods is priced individually.
Specialty Woods include:
Bird's Eye Maple, Curly Maple, Curly Walnut, Wavy Cherry, Butternut
(*Butternut has become extremely rare. It is now available only through previously logged stock. Butternut paddles are therefore among our most expensive paddles.)
Some additional specialty woods used only for laminate pieces include:
Bubinga, Zebra Wood, Ebony, Mohogany
paddle hangers
Available in the same varieties of hardwoods as our paddles, these are hand crafted from the leftover wood as the paddles are cut out.
