Some woods are considered "specialty woods" depending on figure and availability.
Figure is the degree of uniqueness in the curl, grain, bird's eye, etc.
Availability is the degree of rarity due to location or circumstance.
Both one piece and laminate paddles can be made from specialty woods.

Due to variations in degree, each paddle made from one or more of these woods is priced individually.

*Butternut has become extremely rare.
It is now available only through previously logged stock.
